Forever starts now! Shuffling the deck with road-tested jams and a couple immaculate old-school tunes, Glyders engage their new power-trio formation with a proper full band album, Forever, out November 21 on Drag City. The first single, “Stone Shadow,” is out today with a music video filmed by the band and Liv Mershon.
Guitarist/vocalist Joshua Condon and bassist Eliza Weber started up in 2014, but even when they put together their 2023 album debut, Maria’s Hunt, they still had a revolving door on the drums. Then they met Joe Seger, who fit on the kit like a glove and in their sound like a brother. Since then, the three have ridden together, building up Forever while playing shows all around the US and Europe. The song nugs of Forever sprouted branches and spokes on the road — and the streamlined new chassis feels mighty fine! Glyders got a mess of old-school tuneage in 'em, a rich vein of ore mined from the rock masters – y’know, Creedence, The Band, T. Rex, Leon Russell and lots more. Forever lands smooth, its lightning-quick 37 minutes leaving you plenty of time to live.
Glyders’ hard-slap the boogie with their lead single, “Stone Shadow,” a relentless rocker guaranteed to let the house party loose. At this hot tempo, Josh singing “Ain’t got no money/I just wanna have a ball” is a high-living war whoop, while “It’s time to realize/I’m in it for the rest of my life” brings some hard steel to the stage. Shimmying synths and a wire-taut guitar break the song through the fog of reality. The music video follows Glyders through a daytime cemetery trip, cutting back and forth to the VU meters to keep you grounded during the jam.
On the live side, Glyders are hitting the West Coast this November with Color Green before heading back to Chicago for an album release show at the Empty Bottle on Saturday, November 22. Grab your tickets now — they won't last forever!
