The two-headed, four-handed groove that is BCMC is back! The keyboard and guitar duo of Cooper Crain and Bill MacKay are dishing out their new album Stash on June 26; the second single, "Tête-à-Tête," is out today with a visualizer.
Organ breaks in purple shades tear the prog/gospel/psych/funk roof off "Tête-à-Tête" — and that's the mere prelude to the main event! The keys fly in fresh marine layers; the guitars evoke ancient, classical themes. Two tracks of Bill's string leads call and respond to each other in a mystic footwork dance, as Cooper's layers of organs fill the sphere with fluttering electronics and distant sirens. The piece slowly rotates into a liftoff, creating a sonic sky carousel that echoes later-phase Krautrock.
Cooper Crain and Bill MacKay make unbridled electro-ecstatic music, an intuitive assembly of deep and wide trans-hemispheric sounds. Needle down on Stash, waves from Arabian, Indian, Flamenco and Soul music groove in alliance under the expanse of an all-world flag, representing a borderless pursuit of cosmic music moments in the hand. Also found in Stash: shorter strands, longer compositions, church organ breaks, psychedelic blues-rock soloing on synth. Even if you only like Ummagumma, Nino Rota, King Crimson, Sandy Bull, Crystal Silence/Hotel Hello, you will still want to dig deep into BCMC’s new album.
Stash is out June 26, 2026! Catch BCMC in Chicago and Milwaukee this June; tickets are on sale now.
