At long last, Oren Ambarchi's newest full-length masterpiece, Cooked, arrives this Friday! To celebrate, we're we're pleased to share a unique sneak peak of the entire, 22-minute song, "Sleight of Hand", in the form of a short film created by Maximilien Luc Proctor! 

The film stitches together warped images of images of Oren and others with found footage, colour manipulation, and footage from Lasse Marhaug, who took the photo for the Cooked cover, transporting the viewer to an equal part lucid and fever dream.

Maximilien says: "I shot new material and dove deep into my archive to uncover some digital camera experiments from five years ago. Because my filmmaking style often involves only myself, a camera, and a friend as an actor, the material in ‘Sleight of Hand’ documents a few of my dear friends over a span of several years and multiple formats: 4K video, Super 8, Normal 8mm, and 16mm. I edited the images so they would emphasize, celebrate and catalyze the soundtrack."

"Sleight of Hand" takes the listener through over twenty minutes of man-machined folk jazz, with Ambarchi's stellar list of collaborators flowing in, out, and all around the track, the backbone held together by fellow Ghosted members Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin's scratch and pulse , surrounded by Michiko Ogawa on shō and James Rushford on a panoply of acoustic keyboards. Additional drums and percussion from Will Guthrie build to a peak of sizzling intensity, before a cornucopia of subtle details from Fredrik Rasten's guitar and Isak Hedtjärn's virtuoso whistling arrive to finesse the final act. The result? something akin to Miles Davis' take on "Guinnevere", a slowly building groove which peaks with a knotty, hyper-complex passage performed by Marcus Pal. Truly a trip not to be missed.
