Here comes Prison, barreling down the road with a massive new record hitched behind 'em! Their third big one, Big Rigs on the BQE, finds our sonic disruptors far and ahead of their past two LPs, compelled to dream LOUD this time around. Ahead of the album's July 31 release date, Prison drop today a new single edit, "Sunset Park," with a music video.
Looking out the window towards the mighty highway as they played, our Prisoners took in a heavy assemblage of energies while tracking "Sunset Park"; the process of transduction, give or take some chemical additives, plus some vocal loops, ensured that the whole critical mass was brought into pure musical relief. The single edit of "Sunset Park" captures Prison in a dangerous heat: five minutes cut from a 19-minute long play that spirals into an interstellar meltdown. Fans of The Allman Brothers Band and Mission of Burma, hitch a ride! The music video, shot by Johnny Celentano and directed by Prisonmate Matt Lilly, is a delirious trip: like, Matt strolling his infant self down the boardwalk past a mid-shred Paul Major. That kinda trip!
Big Rigs on the BQE is the most holistic-sounding Prison record yet: two massive jams screeching across altered routes of consciousness a la the allegorical and literal heavy traffic of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Get on the road come July 31, 2026, and see Prison on tour in the Midwest this August!
