BILL CALLAHAN APPEARS ON THE ADAM FRIEDLAND SHOW

posted June 19th, 2026

Back in April of this year, Bill Callahan hit the road for an in-store tour to share the good tunes off his new album, My Days of 58. With packed rooms at every stop! At the end of the road, Bill took his one-man band to The Adam Friedland Show to perform three songs ("Why Do Men Sing," "Computer" & "Pathol O.G.") and chat with Adam about humor, empathy, and a brief encounter Bill had with Lou Reed. Watch the full performance and interview below, and catch... (read more)

CORY HANSON LOVES EUROPEAN PEOPLE

posted June 19th, 2026

Like a cool breeze after the long, hot summer, Cory Hanson is blowing through town again with a new set of live dates for the UK and Europe this Autumn.

Like a mighty wind, new album I Love People comes from parts unknown, but you can check out what's in the air of his stellar songcraft 'n' rocking-out combo here, in the (slow)burning set he did for Seattle's KEXP.

Cory and his merry men have constructed a timeless still life... (read more)

SIR RICHARD BISHOP WHIPS THROUGH WEST COAST, LASHES OUT NEW SINGLE

posted June 16th, 2026

One guitar, six strings, no overdubs, 7/8ths improvised, 1/8 composed: that's the terms for guitar o'erlord Sir Richard Bishop's new LP, Hillbilly Erotica! His next volume of inspired modal post-grass recitals, inherited recollections and new national anthems is out July 31; today, Sir Rick releases a new single/music video, "Back Forty Lashes."

"Back Forty Lashes" is a ferocious, trance-inducing piece; ‘splenetic’ is a good word for this kind of playing, but ‘music’ is a better one. Lovely lines of melody emerge like... (read more)

JAM IT IN YOUR CHROME DOME WITH TY SEGALL & CO.

posted June 9th, 2026

Ty Segall shifts into sharp metallic form on his new album, Chrome, to be released August 28. Pre-cleared for flight in full rock congress with his whole band in tow, Chrome is a death-defying dive into Ty’s surrealist worlds and dark apocalyptic passages, thumping in the monstrous vein of records like Slaughterhouse and Twins. Today, Ty releases the first single, “Black Paint,” with a new music video.

Ty opens “Black Paint” by crying out “There's no why my true love /... (read more)

HOP ABOARD THE FAUN FABLES TRAIN

posted June 8th, 2026

Arriving right on time for its 20th anniversary (and a U.S. tour kicking off next week!), Faun Fables’ musical theater work The Transit Rider returns on August 28, 2026 in a lovely 2xLP vinyl release that dimensionally burnishes the bristling performances and elevated cabaret folk sounds of the original 2006 CD-only release. A new music video for “House Carpenter” is out today, featuring footage from the original stage show.

At once a work of theatre, allegory and autobiography, The Transit Rider is a... (read more)

PRISON BUST OUT THE BIG RIGS

posted June 2nd, 2026

Prison’s new album, Big Rigs on the BQE, pulls up July 31, sounding miles away from last year's Downstate and 2023's Upstate. Their third big one is an improvised rock and roll tapestry rended with gas ‘n guitar pedal on down to the metal; hear a cut of of the first side, "Sunrise Highway," today with a scorching music video by Johnny Celentano and Cliff Elor.

Wheels rolling full-tilt, rhythm churning, guitars screaming and mind-bongo-ling percussion in a boiling roil,... (read more)

ALOHA, DOUG SHAW

posted May 29th, 2026

Our friend and collaborator Doug Shaw passedaway from a stroke at home on Tuesday morning.

Whether you knew Doug from Gang Gang Dance, White Magic, Highlife or by his “Sleepy” nom-du-profession, he was a dude of incredible energies, as capable of bubbling over effervescently as getting deep down inside. We recognized him as a deep-thinker, a real freak and a picker unto himself. When he played the guitar, one felt in the presence of the absolute latest in the name of the real folk... (read more)
